All brides-to-be know that finding something blue is a challenge. Most settle for a garter or lingerie. Mostly sight unseen.
But Debbie Franchi of Little Falls had a different idea. A stylized temporary blue tattoo, artist-designed, pressed on a shoulder so you catch a glimpse under the gown. For all the formality of the bridal gown, train, headpiece, the little tattoo adds spice and sexiness—but stays within the boundaries of good taste.
Franchi’s website www.idotattoos.com displays the blue tattoo designs like flowers, doves, rings or champagne glasses. Each comes in an attractive blue case, sealed in a silk ribbon and crystal brooch, which converts to a picture frame as a keepsake.
The clever idea is a two-fer, a shower or pre-wedding gift combined with a forever wedding memento. Franchi’s little blue boxes have been selling like crazy at gift stores and wedding dress shops. And on-line through her website.
Franchi dreamed up the concept because she struggled with what the “something blue” should be on her wedding day. After investing thousands in her outfit and dozens of hours perfecting her look, she was concerned that the blue addition wouldn’t match, or detract from what she was trying to achieve. But the tattoo, with choice of design and placement, worked every time.
The artwork –commissioned by Debbie through various artists across the country, is made from vegetable dye, and fades few days after the wedding. But Debbie hopes your tattoo will always be part of your wedding memories– something blue, and something completely different for your special day.
